Timelines are always fun !

- October1809  Diedrich Knickerbocker disappears in New York.

- November 1809  Knickerbocker’s landlord says he has found a
          “very curious book” in Mr. K’s belongings, and that it
          would be sold to pay for back rent.

- December 1809 Knickerbocker’s book, A History of New York,
          is published, and becomes a bestseller, thus making its author,
         Washington Irving, one of the great scammers of history.
