The book has shelf edge wear with a small wear through at top of spine. The book has previous owner's name inscribed on first title page - " Lt. Col. Harold E, Beaty 127th Airborne Engineering Division June 1950- Aug. 1952. End pages are decorated with map of the Pacific with route of Airborne to Japan. Illustrated with many maps of the War zones in which the Division was engaged. Also numerous black and white photos of men and locations. Appendix with names of troops that received decorations and medals. Rare First Edition

I think the first one ... 1948 would indicate the original while 1989 would indicate some kind of reprint or at the very least, a first printing from the publisher. Did I get it right?
