We get many calls for book appraisals, and most people decide against paying the $ 150.00 per hour that we charge for them. We also discourage people from investing in appraisals unless they have some kind of provenance for the book, or strong knowledge that the book is worth considerably more than the appraisal fee. If you look at the research I did for my colleague and my response to her. you'll see why this is:
1. Title: Myrsky Nousee - this has no possible relationship to German, as the letter combinations are wrong. It could be Russian, but that's one of the languages I'm fluent in. It isn't. The "see" part of Nousee is a common North and East European word for "Sea" so that delimits the area of the world to Europe. It couldn't be French, Flemish, Spanish Portuguese, Romanian, or Italian, again because the letter combinations are all wrong. There are no diacritical marks in any of the text you sent me, so that pretty much eliminates Hungarian, Czech, Slovak, and Polish. So, we look to the north. Norwegian is out, as is Danish.
2. The copyright page gives no locational information - where it was published - except for JUVA - which is in Eastern Finland. A Google search would have led you to this, and thus the probable identification of the language.
3. Another Google search would have led you to the Finnish Rock band Musta Paraati, which recorded "Myrsky Nousee" - Storm Arising - in 1984.
4. Q.E.D. This is Latin, and expands to Quod Erat Demonstrandum - that which was to be proven.
5. The best part of all is learning that the Finns have rock bands !
